What is it about the fog that draws us in? The mysterious way it creeps across the mountain tops and through the trees? The peaceful feeling and the silence in the air? The sometimes eerie and darkness it brings?
"Sometimes we need the fog to remind ourselves that life is not black and white" - Jonathan Lockwood Huie We always talk about the sunshine how it radiates energy but what about the foggy mornings? What is fog? Clouds and fog both form when water vapor condenses or freezes to form tiny droplets or crystals in the air, but clouds can form at many different altitudes while fog only forms near the ground. There are many different types of fog, too. Ice fog forms when the air near the ground is cold enough to turn the water in fog into ice crystals. Ice fog forms only at extremely cold temperatures. Fog is a cloud that touches the ground. Fog can be thin or thick, meaning people have difficulty seeing through it.
It can actually feel cool or somewhat warm outside when you are in the fog.

Fog gives us a different feeling as we watch it. It moves sometimes slowly and creeps in and out of trees while other times it swiftly moves around twisting and turning at the base of the trees. If you are out hiking down a trail the stillness of the fog can bring on an overwhelming feeling of eeriness. Especially when the fog is "thick" leaving visibility low. Fog is actually quiet in nature. The wind, animals, sound of wind in the trees, even haunting sounds of creaking limbs are the sounds we hear when outside, the fog is silence. The stillness and silence can play games on the mind and bring on feelings of being watched or the wonder of the unseen behind the fog.
If you have the opportunity to sit in the peace of the fog, observe its movement and feel its silence can be tranquil.
Fog is just another phenomena in the science of nature. Fog comes with seasons and different climates and just another fascination of nature to enjoy and observe.

" In nature, everything has a job. The job of the fog is to beautify further the existing beauties!"
