I am ending 2023 and beginning 2024 with "doing what I love". It is December, Winter Solstice on top of all. The days are short, dark, cold and even the water in the creek has the black and white appearance. Since Thanksgiving I feel I lost my mojo.....wanting to be like the bear and hibernate. In the dark days of Winter hibernation, it is always the reflection time. Reflect on the year we are ending. Christmas draws closer, the house has had its decorations up for weeks, the lights twinkle more in the dark nights. I hoped having the house decorated might actually spin me in the holiday spirit, we should be inspired with Christmas time, it is the birth of our Savior. I guess, the loneliness of Winter has taken my heart down a notch. During this end of the year lament and reflection stop focusing on the " things we don't accomplish". Then its the self talk, bartering with excuses of what did not happen, spinning downward in the rabbit hole of Winter and self preservation into hibernation.

Deep in hibernation to feel some what productive, time to clean out closets. After countless boxes of photos, kids artwork and memories.....I realize, my life is in a box. Literally! All of the photos and memories is history of people and events that created who I am today, all in a box. No more lamenting, no more hibernation, no more sorting through my life box because today is here and now.

The mountains have always been here and in the, the bears - Rick Bass

All things remain forever, the sun and moon and they stay on their course. Rainbow encircle the Heavens with is glorious arc of beauty, the mountains stand tall whether blanketed in snow or spouting wildflowers. Oceans and rivers remain and hold other life within them. The infinite beauty of Earth with its complex balance reminds us, life is an extraordinary privilege. The world is an endless prospect of magic and wonder.

It does not matter to count the things I have done or not done, do not reflect on this past years accomplishments of lack of. Time to stop the hibernating and the only goal you need to set for the new year is "Do what you love". It does not have to be " one small task, or how many tasks" we can trap in a box. Just be sure it is what lifts your heart. I don't need to count how many times I hiked, how many miles I trekked, or places I have ventured. It is just important to keep walking, hike when I can and explore now and then. There are small simple things here and now.

"May today there be peace within. May you trust your are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let the knowledge settle into your bones and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us." - St Therese 2024 - Do what you love, love what you do and it will be a good year.
