This years goal was to accomplish 52 hikes in the year, yesterday marked hike #53, a bonus hike beyond the goal. Hiking on Thanksgiving day is a little out of the normal traditions, but this year is an abnormal year. Enjoying the solitude and wrapping my head deep into thoughts out in the forest, being it was Thanksgiving, I took time to think of EVERYTHING there is to be thankful for. That list can goes on forever.

The "thankful list" always starts with family and loved ones, especially being a holiday and not being with them tends to make a person think about them even greater. Feeling very blessed, while kids and grand kids are off living life it is hard to get us all together for one group time. I am thankful they are all doing well and healthy. Those little ones are all the reasons in the world for living! Grandparent hood gives so much purpose to life and one more arriving soon). Always thankful for the time we do get to be with each different family and super happy my son has moved close enough now to make it in a half day road trip!

My personal thankful list includes where I live. Not just the quaint community I call home, let's reach out big and broad. Despite many happenings and controversy....I do believe in the USA and one of the best places in our world to live, God Bless the USA. My home community is surrounded by wonderful caring people that give to each other. The wonderful neighbors they are family to me!

Now some people might not agree with the next on my list, but I love the rain...and all our seasons. Such a wonderful feeling to listen to the rain hitting the roof.....of course thankful for a good warm roof over head. The list goes on and on as I hike up the mountain thankful for my own health and strength to accomplish the 52 hike challenge. But I realized, today was not just a bonus hike, it was a bonus day.

Thinking about family and friends out there, we all face our own challenges and trials. So isn't every day we wake up, feet hit the floor and can smile at the world, a bonus day? If you are reading today's blog post, then be thankful for another day alive. One more day to make it spectacular, one more day to tell someone you love them, one more day to make a difference, one more day to enjoy! After all, we do not know how many days we have left on the Earth, some people live to be past 90 and children don't live long enough to learn to drive. So every day is a bonus day, make it count and don't wait for Thanksgiving to think of your thankful list, be thankful every day and smile at everyone you meet or greet ( preferably with out a mask and let your smile shine!) Life is a blessing.
