The Gorge has many awesome trails and places to explore. I have been first hand assisting on many rescues, the hike that went bad. I don't want your experience to go south, being prepared and having an idea what is ahead is part of the adventure.
The Gorge has its challenges with weather and changes in seasons. Here I hope to share with you fun and adventure for being out there, being safe and making the most of your outing.
We "prepare for the future", prepare meals, make reservations to prepare for an over night stay; are you prepared for changes?
Yes we turn back clocks tonight at midnight, all the reminders to also check your smoke alarm batteries with "Fall back".
When I walked today and observed most of the colorful leaves have drifted down to the ground. The forest is opened up with empty branches. The sky is dark and grey, even the fog is lingering in the fir trees. Winter is coming, fall is making an exit. Are you prepared? Make the check list! Spare batteries for flashlights in power outage event. Back up drinking water and food stored. They say to prepare for 3 days, but last Winter our power was out for 5. Do you have the medications, pet food and supplies to stay at home if roads are unsafe to travel? Cell phone charged with a back up charge supply. Heat source? 4 wheelbarrow loads later and my firewood is close at hand.
